ABOUT

Caitlin Rueter (b. 1978) lives and works in Toronto, Canada.

Rueter’s work is built on the layering and assemblage of materials, in service of, or in dialogue with a specific historical narrative. Repeating a series of steps—collecting, editing, deconstructing, assembling, fragmenting, superimposing and embedding bodies and objects within other objects or images—Rueter layers concepts and materials.

Her practice takes various forms, including photo-based assemblage, video, printmaking and collaborative performance, drawing on historical imagery to create a narrative.

Rueter is represented by bildkultur | galerie in Stuttgart, Germany.
